Four year olds are so wonderful to celebrate. More often than not, this is the year they fully comprehend exactly what a birthday celebration is all about. Lucy is a bouncing bubble of energy at the best of times, so when it came to celebrating her 4th birthday, she was beyond excited.

Simone, Lucy’s Mum and owner of Invite Me, loves all things vintage and decided to incorporate this throughout Lucy’s birthday. ‘I’m all about vintage and if there’s a cute little vintage face I can add to the mix, even better. Straight from the 60s, I found the original image of a little paper doll girl and that was the foundation of Lucy’s whole party,’ said Simone.

Simone is also a graphic designer by trade and is all about eclectic mixes of colour. She steers clear of anything too ‘matchy matchy’, and constantly works her parties around her invitations. ‘I always get over enthusiastic about the stationery… as this one was a kitschy collection of colour, I figured absolutely anything could go,’ said Simone.

Guests dressed in their Sunday best and spent the afternoon sipping on pink lemonade, munching on cookies and cupcakes, and dancing to music by Django Reinhardt (a guitarist from the 1930s). It truly was a vintage party that our parents and grandparents would be proud of!
